On a high from yesterday’s opening reception for the national convening of Taproot Fellows, a program by Alliance for California Traditional Arts that honors, spotlights and amplifies master artists and culture bearers of many communities around the country. I had the great honor of commencing a welcoming speech. Incredibly moved to be in community with these amazing leaders in the next few days!!

Ayy! It’s been really cool seeing the art Toka and I made printed in so many different variations and arrangements. So honored to have contributed to this year’s 54th annual festival which explores the Japanese philosophy of Ikigai, a concept that interestingly runs full circle in a number of ways with my relationship with Folklife. (More on that in the official program guide) It’s been quite an incredible journey, and I am extremely grateful!!
